PEMF Therapy For Horses: Can It Help Heaves?

By Robin Setser

Horses are nothing short of strong, either for athletic reasons or what have you. However, much like any creature, it's possible that they can become ill. For this reason, I would like to discuss the case that is simply known as heaves, which many people are unfamiliar with. If you are a horse owner, but may not know the specifics of this condition, here are just a few of the talking points to consider, PEMF therapy for horses standing as just one example.

Heaves, for those who aren't in the know, is a breathing condition that is linked to horses. Essentially, when this condition occurs, these animals struggle with shortness of breath, which can lead to wheezing, coughing, and the like. In this regard, one can associate said condition with asthma amongst humans. However, as you look at this condition, you will probably want to know how it comes about. How do these animals become ill with heaves?

The reason why a horse might develop heaves is due to their environment. Specifically, when there is an excessive degree of dust or pollen in the air, the respiratory systems of horses are negatively impacted, resulting in shortened breathing. It seems like this condition occurs in animals six years of age or older, but this doesn't change the fact that medical advice is needed. Fortunately, there is a wealth of detail that pet owners can learn about.

As companies such as Assisi Animal Health can tell you, the risk of heaves can be reduced early on. The reason for this - and I am sure that others can agree - is that certain symptoms can be observed at the onset. When you start to see cases like cloudy discharge from your animal's nose, it's time to get help. One can make the argument that PEMF therapy for horses is great for relieving discomfort. Before you take this step, though, it'll be in your best interest to consult your veterinarian, so that an expert opinion can be attained.

Even though PEMF therapy for horses is useful, one cannot overlook the severity associated with heaves. This is a serious medical condition, to say the least, and horse owners should be mindful of the steps to be taken. Along with the aforementioned type of therapy, which is a great solution for reducing discomfort, you should not hesitate to contact your veterinarian. When you have this knowledgeable opinion on your side, the benefits are undeniable.
