Is There A Need For An Executive Coach? Leading Instructional Rounds Got The Solution

If an organisation feels the need to enhance the skill set of a number of employees, particularly those that deal with motivating others within an organisation to reach particular goals. It is often common to seek out the services of an executive coach. Leading instructional rounds speciality among other skills is to ensure the benefit of a client who is and should be accountable in all manner of highly complex tasks regarding decision making and development.

Coaches themselves are hired or recommended as part and parcel of developmental programs for executive staff. Furthermore, their services could be acquired if there is a need or gap in the way communication or relationships, in general, are handled, which could affect productivity. Lastly, Executive Coaches could be and in some cases, specifically hired for the grooming of staff for larger roles within an organisation but with that said it does not mean they aren t hired to correct behavioural problems like they used to in the past.

In order to be an Executive Coach, one needs to hail from an experience-based position as this is something that cannot simply be taught at a tertiary institution. Most Coaches hail from a Human Resources, Executive or even Therapy based background. And although the field is not accredited, certification is often obtained from the international Coaching Association.

The coaching itself doesn t have to be face to face due to the digital times in which we live in as a society, but it is ideal as an Executive Coach would be able to make notes of things such as non-verbal language and any nuances that may or may not be needed for fixing. But again, Executive coaching can happen and often does happen in a virtual environment, be it Skype or over the phone.

Although Coaches do not consult, they are and do if approached to do so but that comes as a secondary service. All of the communication and work are done with him is confidential and may be one of the reasons companies tend to work with them.

The career prospects or better yet the barriers to entry into this field of work are best suited for ex HR personnel or retired executive but due to the lack of formal certification, many enter the field once they have obtained certification from the international coach federation in order to provide some form of regulation within this industry.

Because Coaches are key in rectifying wrongs in the communication chain between executives and their fellow employees, companies often seek out the help of an Executive Coach for newly promoted managers and executives so that they can be better integrated and suited to their new roles.

Coaching may bring about the misconception that it is an occupation built upon consultation and therapy and for some but a few the former is true. But Executive Coaching is much more than that primarily due to the fact that Coaches look after if not nurture the top tier talent within an organisations management structure rather than advising them on what to do. And as a result, this allows for a corporate advantage between one company over another due to the work of an Executive Coach as a real investment for the future of their business.
