Your Family Member Is A Drug Addict

By Linda Oakwinds

Is your family having to deal with addiction? Your loved brother, sister or parent has an addiction that you cannot stop. In many families across America today, addiction is destroying people. Addiction has a lot of do with people hurting inside of their hearts. Addiction is more than just shooting up heroin or smoking crack. Rehabs teach us that there are many deep rooted issues as to why someone turns to drugs/alcohol for help. It is possible to get help for addicted people today. However, there are many hurting families out there that need help on a regular basis.

Families today are often asking the question, "Why?" Why must I deal with my family member having an addiction? Heroin addiction is at an all-time high. Many children today that are under the age of 18 are using heroin. It is often cheap to buy at only $10.00 a hit. The pain and suffering that a parent feels is enormous. Many kids today are overdosing on drugs and often see no help coming from a rehabilitation treatment center. You may ask yourself why this is all happening. It could be because too many drugs are finding their way across the border. Border patrol has to do a better job in order to see that these drugs don't make it into America.

Many treatment centers today have medical billers running insurance. They are supposed to tell the addict what they are covered for. However, most insurance policies do not cover treatment. Most addicts find that they are rejected by treatment centers because they don't have enough cash to pay for treatment or proper medical insurance. Families are often left watching their loved one go through pain and face the risk of having a lethal overdose.

Today, kids are being exposed to illegal drugs by their parents. Many children become addicts themselves if their parents are addicts. In many families, addiction is obviously passed down from generation to generation. Many men and women find it hard to imagine their loved ones going through any kind of addiction. Many people that get addicted to drugs and alcohol find it impossible to get off the drug alone. Families have to come together in order to see addicts free from their addiction. There is nothing worse than finding your loved one living in the streets that has a drug addiction.

Families that have their loved ones together often say that they cannot handle addiction any longer. They often tell their loved one that they either get help now or they are not allowing them to live in the house. It is important to never enable an addict to do drugs. Not every addict is willing to get treatment. Sometimes and intervention is necessary. Interventions are often the best solution for stubborn addicts that refuse to get help.
