Useful Information Regarding Rancho Cucamonga Dental Veeners

By Harold Edwards

In dentistry, the term veneer is used to refer to a material layer that is placed on a tooth in order to improve its aesthetic appeal. Veneers protect the surface of the particular tooth from any damages and improve the smile too. There are other functions that veneers serve apart from being aesthetic. The other term used to refer to these materials are dental porcelain laminate or porcelain veneer. This is worth knowing about Rancho Cucamonga dental veeners.

Only the front surface of the tooth is covered by veneer. These materials are designed in the form of shells. Dental adhesives are used to bond the veneers to the front of the teeth. The color, shape, length and size of the tooth are greatly altered by this material. The color of these materials depends on what the person prefers. Silver veneers are commonly used by celebrities, especially musicians.

Several materials are used in making veneers. Resin composite materials and porcelain are however the most common materials. Veneers made from porcelain are better than those made from resin composites in terms of resistance to stains. Porcelain products also appear more similar to real teeth and reflect light more naturally. Before deciding on what material to use, it is important for one to consult with their dentist.

There are numerous issues that can be fixed by veneers. Tooth discoloration can be as a result of various reasons like resin fillings, canal treatment, drug stains like tetracycline and excessive fluoride. Dental veneers can be fitted on teeth in order to conceal the discoloration. Also, veneers can be used to correct worn out teeth, those that have big gaps between them, and those that are chipped or broken.

One is required to make three trips to a dentist in order to have veneers installed. The first visit covers all consultations. The dentist and the client discuss about the dental situation of the person and determine why veneers are necessary. The patient will provide their dental history for the dentist to determine if one is a good candidate after performing additional tests.

The expectation of the patient should be disclosed to the dentist in full during this session. By understanding this, better services can be provided by the dentist. One may be subjected to an X-ray of the mouth if they are determined to be suitable candidates to undergo the process. In addition, imprints of the mouth and teeth of the patient can also be done by the dentist.

As part of preparations to install veneers, the dentist usually removes about half of a millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface. Normally, the thickness of surface removed is the same as that of the veneer to be installed. Prior to trimming the enamel, a local anesthesia is administered. Once the enamel has been trimmed, impressions of the teeth are made and then sent to the lab where veneers are made.

One may have to wait for a week for the veneers to be produced. Once produced, the veneers are cemented permanently on the teeth. The color of the veneer can be adjusted using the shade of cement used in bonding the material to the teeth.
