Useful Information Regarding Russellville Breast Surgery

By Andrew Snyder

Mammoplasty is the medical term used to refer to breast surgery. It is a type of surgery that is done on the breasts for a number of reasons. It may be done to rehabilitate a medical anomaly like breast cancer. There are a number of reasons that have led to the increase in the number of women settling for cosmetic mammoplasty. This is what Russellville breast surgery entails.

Among the reasons why more women are undergoing this process is technological improvements that have made the process safer and easier. The risks to the health of the patient are now very little when compared to several years ago. In order to improve the time of recover, the procedure has also been made as less intrusive as possible. There is also lots of improvement in the equipment that are used for the procedure.

Today, cosmetic mammoplasty is categorized under three major categories, that is, breast reconstruction, reduction, and augmentation. One undergoes augmentation when they intend to enhance the appearance, contour, and size of their breasts. Some women have this process done to restore the size of their breasts after pregnancy whereas others undergo to improve its size.

Some women have asymmetrical breasts. This is whereby the breasts are not of the same size. One can make the size of their breasts equal through augmentation. The process of augmentation involves installing implants beneath the chest muscles. The cuts should be done in one of three major parts, which are the axilla, the areola, and the lower breast fold. Each of these locations has the incision done less intrusively.

The outer cover of implants is made of silicone shell. The silicone shell is then stuffed with saline solution or silicone. One is supposed to decide the breast size they intend to achieve from going the procedure before having it done. One can choose the size they want from a wide variety of trial implants the surgeon will provide.

Saline is a safe product to use and its use is unrestricted. It has been approved for use by the US FDA without any restrictions. On the other hand, silicone gel implants are only used under strict conditions. In fact, the FDA once banned the product from being used. Women who use them must be under approved scientific studies. These are ongoing studies meant to determine the safety of these products.

The augmentation process is comparatively straightforward and safe. There are very few cases of failed surgeries. However, there is always a risk that accompanies any surgical procedure and mammoplasty is not exempted. Discussing safety, alternatives, and applicability of the procedure with a board- certified plastic surgeon is critical before undergoing mammoplasty.

There is only one practitioner with adequate training and skills to do this surgery. That is a board certified plastic surgeon. Therefore, the surgeon one chooses to work with must be well licensed and certified. One can locate certified surgeons for the task through local health departments.
